Vision Milestones
-
1740 patients examined
Our mobile eye care clinics are held regularly throughout Orange County and are free to homeless and impoverished adults and children who do not have access to eye care. Our volunteer eye doctors provide patients with a glaucoma check, a slit lamp evaluation, and a refraction for new eyeglasses.
-
1100 new prescription glasses dispensed
In 2009, Medi-Cal stopped providing eyeglasses to tens of thousands of people in Orange County who cannot afford glasses. Through the generosity of optical companies and individuals, our goal is to provide new prescription eyeglasses and better vision for all patients in need.
-
450 non-prescription reading glasses dispensed
Even reading glasses can be a luxury to many of the patients we treat. We provide nonprescription reading glasses to improve patients' day-to-day lives.
-
225 patients diagnosed with ophthalmic pathologies and referred for follow up eye care
Over 12% of the patients we examine are diagnosed with vision-threatening pathologies. We partner with the OC Health Care Agency to find follow-up treatment or surgery for patients. Those who qualify for treatment through Medi-Cal, Medi-Care, or MSI are referred to doctors who provide the care they need. For those patients who are ineligible for benefits, we partner with Southern California College of Optometry, Puente a la Salud and our network of volunteer ophthalmologists who have donated treatment and surgeries for patients with vision threatening conditions.
