Mobile Eye Care Clinic

Our mission is to improve and preserve the vision of homeless and impoverished adults and children in Orange County. We provide free eye exams and dispense free, new prescription eyeglasses. We connect patients who are diagnosed with vision threatening pathologies to follow up ophthalmic care.

Who we are

We are a group of over 100 volunteer ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians, technicians, and optometry students working through the Illumination Foundation in partnership with ophthalmic and community health organizations.

The Mobile Eye Care Clinic operates through Illumination Foundation's Mobile Multi Service Center. This program provides free on-site medical and social services to homeless or at-risk individuals throughout Orange County.

We generally ask our volunteers to commit two half days a year to participate in our mobile eye care clinics. (The mobile clinics are always held on a Saturday or a Sunday.) Similarly we ask optical companies to donate items such as100 prescription lenses, 100 overstock frames, glasses cases, or used exam equipment.

"If everyone in the eye care profession is able to contribute just a little, together we can serve the most vulnerable members of our community."
