Volunteering for the Mobile Eye Care Clinics
Our free mobile eye care clinics are offered for homeless and impoverished patients four times a year at various sites throughout Orange County. We treat an approximately 300 patients per clinic. We need volunteer ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, opticians, optometry students, ophthalmology residents, and nurses. Adults and teenagers without any optical training are also welcome and needed to participate in our clinics. Our clinics are held on either Saturday or Sunday and volunteers may participate all day or in a half day shift.
Volunteering follow up eye care for patients with pathologies
In addition to volunteering at our mobile eye care clinics, we have volunteer opportunities for optometrists and ophthalmologists who wish to donate follow-up treatment to homeless and impoverished patients whom are diagnosed with vision threatening pathologies.
Volunteering ophthalmic surgeries
There is a great opportunity for volunteer ophthalmologists who are willing to donate ophthalmic surgery to the vulnerable patients we serve. Many patients are at risk of vision-loss because they have no benefits or finances to cover surgery costs. We partner with Access OC to secure donated hospitals and surgery centers where our volunteer ophthalmologists may operate. We also have several ophthalmologists who perform surgery at their own surgery centers.
