Benefit to the Community

Bridge the gap between emergency shelters and permanent housing to provide stable housing and comprehensive services to underserved homeless families with children

2011 Goals

  • Serve 120 families and graduate 60 families into stable housing conditions, with 20 families in permanent supportive housing

Program Strategies

  • Use motel rooms to provide housing that is scalable as need arises
  • Provide comprehensive on-site services: case management, medical services, behavioral health counseling, job counseling, financial literacy, tutoring and life skills
  • Offer a low-entry threshold to serve all types of homeless families including two-parent families, single mothers with children, single fathers with children, families with teenagers, pregnant women, and those with mental health or addiction issues
  • Ensure that children are able to complete a full academic year at the same school and provide the tools to help them excel
  • Measure client outcomes with a detailed Outcome Matrix to ensure clients meet several important benchmarks
  • Use collaboration and in-kind services to leverage program dollars
